Guillaume

In the autumn of 2020, Guillaume, an active participant in Muay Thai and Jiu-jitsu, began experiencing severe headaches. Initially diagnosed with a concussion, a shocking revelation came in February 2021 when he was found unresponsive. An emergency visit to the hospital revealed a baseball-sized tumour in his brain.

The subsequent journey was a rollercoaster of emotions. After a successful surgery, Guillaume returned to work, only for the tumour to regrow aggressively by the end of 2021. Despite undergoing radiation and a second surgery, the prognosis was heart-wrenching.

Guillaume and his wife Margaret, decided to make the most of their time together. They got married, travelled, and embraced life with the mantra “full YOLO.” The couple’s resilience and bond became evident, with Guillaume referring to Margaret as his rock. In 2018, Margaret participated in the Tour de Cure (BC Ride to Conquer Cancer) and he was so very proud of her.

Guillaume heard about Forward Foundation through a friend and submitted an experience request.  As part of their wedding weekend, Guillaume, Margaret, and a few close friends went go-karting at the Area 27 KartPlex in his hometown of Oliver, BC.

Guillaume fell in love with the track and was able to go a few more times. However, racing is never as fun when you’re on your own. So, for his experience request, Guillaume wanted to connect with his family and friends in a fun, carefree, memorable way by booking a full day of racing at KartPlex.

Having the opportunity to share a day with the people he loves – doing something that he loves – meant a lot to him. Family, friends, and their children gathered, and all enjoyed the day in a stress-free way. There were other opportunities for connection with his loved ones planned for the weekend and a few extras to make it a truly memorable, connective experience. The ultimate gift – the ability to provide an experience focusing on connection and relationships, allowing Guillaume to celebrate life and let his people know how much they mean to him.
